Bendigo Art Deco Streamline Home
This stunning example of a streamline Modern home is located in Bendigo. There are a number of Modernist homes and commercial buildings in the township, but this home would certainly gain the attention of the passer by with it's stunning white finish and multiple use of curves that are evident throughout the building and stepped fence detailing. I really like how the chimnney brickwork has been left unrendered part of the way down. It really helps to emphasis the chimmney as a feature in itself and draws the eye to other features such as the main entrance steel frame window detailing. The same original brickwork appears throughout the properties fence details as well.

oh that is one amazing house, I really hope they have a lounge below the windows in that curved room.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Helen, yes it would be amazing if there was a curved lounge below the window, would look great I reckon.
ReplyDeleteThis home was residence for the Cohn family, who manufactured and distributed their own brand of soft drinks through the region. I saw the interiors when I was a kid, during the 1960s, and I recall being fascinated by the bathroom - still totally original - which seemed to be a symphony of terrazzo and tiles and chrome, still very sophisticated, but utterly of its era.
