Currabubula War Memorial Hall

Thirty kilometres south of Tamworth, New South Wales is the small township of Currabubula. There are so many examples of War Memorial Halls around Australia, and what makes them fascinating is that they are not just in the major cities, but in small country towns as well. The other interesting point of note is that most were designed in the Modernist style.

The Currabubula War Memorial Hall is a bold design and the use of different coloured bricks add visual interest. Another sticking design element is the typeface on the building. The hall stands alone on main road and this adds to the visual appeal of the building. I also love the "rawness" of the building in that you can see that the facade is solid brick, and yet the rest of the structure looks to be built of corrugated iron.

  1. this photo and building really allow you to see the style qualities of the build
it's like if the back wasn't there and you walked up to the front it would be like a western set.
    Its pure art!
